Racist?

July 14th, 2010

I dont have a big long story filled with endless facts this time, just a simple question.

I found the new tax law suggested by Obama pretty interesting. They are going to add a tax to tanning salons of 10%.
Normally, I wouldnt really care about this but couldnt it be construed as racist as only white women and men go to tanning salons?

Bp is Not a Monster

June 6th, 2010
The biggest mistake in our history is still just a mistake. Without the finger pointing and blame let’s take a closer look instead how BP has actually worked to fix that mistake.
The total daily cost of cleanup equals anywhere from 14 to 30 million dollars.  Note, all costs and expense has been willingly paid by BP. 360 million has been funded for Louisana’s barrier islands to try and contain the oil from shorelines. 36 million has been paid so far for economic losses as outlined in the 1990 Oil Pollution Act which
resulted from the last massive oil spill, Exxon.
26,000 personal claims have been made thus far which will be thought to be as much as 14 billion dollars. The projected cost of the clean up also, is 14 billion dollars. There are 1600 vessals, which have successfully skimmed 321,000 gallons, about 18% percent of all the oil on the surface. In the next 90 days, 4 billion will be spent to clean up shorelines already covered in oil, including the marshlands. There is 700 miles of boom laid over the surface continuing to collect the slick. 990 million more will be given out in grants for many different things mostly for states to handle the impact. 500 million is being spent on impact research and how our eco system will be affected. 26,000 personnel are helping these efforts.
Please note these are not even all the costs as many of them had only estimates, but so far BP has spent 33.9 billion on correcting their mistake.
I know its frustrating to see the oil pouring out daily and that BP has shown negligence in the past, but the simple fact is it wasn’t deliberate, and they are cleaning it up as fast as possible. The Gulf has survived massive oil spills-  both occuring in my lifetime, including the eco system which returned and flourished.
Have faith in the Earth.

Senators: Lift ban on gay men donating blood – More health news- msnbc.com

May 26th, 2010

“Not a single piece of scientific evidence supports the ban,” said Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., who joined 16 other Democrats and independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont in writing Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Margaret Hamburg.

via Senators: Lift ban on gay men donating blood – More health news- msnbc.com.

Has this jackass ever spent one minute talking to an openly gay man? A good friend of mine from high school came out of the closet about ten years ago that he was gay. He talked quite a bit about how the gay male community is like living in the 70’s. Rubbers? What’s that?

AIDS killed him two years ago.

Not a single piece of evidence? This gay equality thing has gone too far. As the father of a child who has received several transfusions this scares the every loving shit out of me. It is a FACT that the gay male community is WAY more loose with their use of safe sex methods as in most DON’T. Not a single fact? John Kerry you’re a fucking moron. You’re not only a traitor to your country but your pandering to the gay community is going to get people killed.

Is it worth kissing the taint of the gay community to get yourself re-elected? Oh yeah…. Sorry I forgot.. You’re a politician. You sold your soul decades ago.

KKK or not KKK?

May 25th, 2010
I heard a interesting story this morning and wondered to myself how its possible for this kind of thing to be occuring.
In Georgia, a history teacher asked her students to dress up in costumes and re-enact different historical periods. Four of those students came to school in KKK robes.
Exactly how is KKK historical when it still exsists today? Just this Feburary there was a rally for the KKK in Nahunta Georgia, which drew several hundred people. This was one of my first thoughts followed by, what parent would allow such dressing unless they themselves perhaps are associated with the KKK or to busy to know whats going on?
I found it bad judgement however for the teacher not to be more specific about time periods and acceptable costumes. In todays politically correct society, where hate crimes still happen frequently, I expect to see that she will lose her job over it.
Does any responsiblity fall on these four teenagers? I really think its another display of bad judgement and more than likely was simply done for shock value. Or in a sadder possibility, they are actually KKK.
Do your homework and judge for yourself.

In Canada once more, U.S. troops fleeing a war – USATODAY.com

May 24th, 2010

Hart, 36, knows that some people think he is a traitor, but he has no regrets. “I’ve bled for my country, I’ve sweated for my country, I’ve cried myself to sleep for my country — which is a lot more than some people who are passing judgment on me have done,” he says. “I would rather go sit in prison than go to Iraq.”

via In Canada once more, U.S. troops fleeing a war – USATODAY.com.

It’s easy to criticize the guy for being a traitor. It’s easy to call the guy a coward. Until you’ve actually been there, you just don’t know and never will.

Lost….. And Found

May 24th, 2010

My wife and I love episodic television. Reality TV not so much although Survivor has a proper place in our schedule when it is on. A TV show should captivate you. It should leave you longing for the next episode.

Take the Sopranos for example. This was a roller coaster ride of a tv show. The show took you up and down but when the time came to bring the show to an end it was like having sex without an orgasm. Disappointing on every level.

Prison Break was another show that frustrated me personally. The show should have ended after season 2 in my opinion but it drug on and on. The ending, my wife liked. The ending to me was a cop out.

Heroes had us for the first season. The commercials is what screwed it up for me personally. It seemed like every single commercial plugging the show promised “All your questions will be answered” and they never were. I threw up my hands and gave up.

Ghost Whisperer. Yes Ghost Whisperer of all shows had me for a few episodes. Then it just got dumber and dumber. They kill off “Jim” only to have him return in someone elses body, yet its the same actor. Then they slowly get rid of the fact that they killed him off in the first place after fast forwarding five years. I threw up my hands at the show when they did a blatant commercial for a GMC Acadia during the show. “Look mom you can fit the whole soccer team in there.” *BARF*   Product placement is one thing – Blatant 30 second spots is another.

Now we get to Lost. Lost was special in my mind. In did everything a TV show should do to entertain me without ever losing me. The finale last night had me slightly confused. It took my wife and I discussing it through the tears (Yes I admit it – I cried) to figure out what we perceived to be as just what exactly happened over the past six seasons. Our conclusion is purgatory. Now I can’t explain the Oceanic Six getting off the island and interacting with “the living” and I’m not going to try. Jack’s dad explaining to his son, “Some died before you and some long after you” helped me personally bring it into perspective. I would have liked to have seen a few “old people” walking into the church and maybe smiling at Jack while talking to Kate in the jeep. Jack walks into the church and instead of seeing the few “old people” he see’s what we saw last night. All in all I am very satisfied with the end of what was perhaps my favorite television show to date.

I’ll never forget the excitement I had while on our Hawaiian vacation, my wife and I stumbling on the production site for the Darma camp which was actually a YMCA camp at Ka’ena point on Oahu. My wife wasn’t actually sure but that night in the hotel room at Turtle Bay there it was on television. The Darma camp and I got to give a big fat I told you so to the wife.

Thank you to the creators and the people who brought the show to life each and every week. I’ll sure be having a helluva time finding a show to fill the void that this show has left.

Megan Fox leaves Transformers franchise

May 20th, 2010

Megan Fox, who made her name as Shia LaBeouf’s love interest in the first two Transformers films, will no longer appear in the franchise.

Fox played Mikaela Banes in the 2007 blockbuster and sequel, which together made $1.5bn (£1.05bn) worldwide.

via BBC News – Megan Fox leaves Transformers franchise.

THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU Megan Fox. The ONLY thing Megan Fox was good for was eye candy because as far as acting ability she was TERRIBLE. The girl couldn’t act good enough to fake an orgasm so the LAST place she needs to be is in a major Hollywood production. Send this girl to where she belongs, Hooters, or Porn.

AT&T Sees No Threat in a Verizon iPhone | Gadget Lab | Wired.com

May 20th, 2010

70 percent of AT&T’s subscribers are on family plans, and it would be difficult to transition multiple devices, he explained. Additionally, 40 percent of subscribers are part of corporate plans, and employers are unlikely to switch company-owned devices for a new carrier. (There is some overlap between the two types of plans.) The CEO added that “churn” rates (i.e., a measure of customers leaving) for AT&T are staying at record-low rates, so he expects that iPhone customers will remain loyal.

via AT&T Sees No Threat in a Verizon iPhone | Gadget Lab | Wired.com.

Yeah not worried? Well you’d better be worried. 7 out of 10 iPhone owners I know, are itching to tell AT&T to go piss up a rope. Myself, having a Microcell that STILL drops calls, count myself as someone ready to go.

Good LORD I hate arrogance.

Misspoke? No… You lied Mr Blumenthal

May 18th, 2010

His descriptions — I’m assuming Blumenthal knows there have been more than a couple — of serving in Vietnam when in fact he never left the states while a member of the Marine Reserves were “absolutely unintentional” and amount to “a few misplaced words.”

“I will not allow anyone to take a few missplaced words and impugn my record of service to my country. I served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and I am proud of it.”

via Rick Green’s – CT Confidential.

You will not allow? Well I beg to differ – You have no choice in the matter. You didn’t misspeak. You didn’t misplace words. Call it for what it is – You’re a liar and a bad one at that.

Were you a coward who hid in the National Guard during Vietnam? Well, considering your propensity for misplacing words, it wouldn’t shock me. Now piss off.

Russel had no integrity!

May 18th, 2010

You think Russel got robbed? You must have as much integrity as he did. None!

Ok I get a bunch of good feedback each week but this one I HAVE to respond to publicly. The game of Survivor is nothing but a high school drama fest and at that game Russel Hantz excelled. I do KIND OF agree with Boston Rob’s assessment that he doesn’t play to win because he pisses so many off in the process.

I told my wife if I ever wound up on that show I would stab HER in the back to win. She looked at me crosseyed but I qualified the statement by telling her I’d stab her with a flesh wound.

Outwit, Outlast, Outplay. Russel did all three and got screwed in the end.
